I am so excited to announce we are now a PET family :0) We have something other then the handful of Betta fish, I would let the kids get!!! Morgan has wanted a Parakeet for over a year and FINALLY she got her chance to get one. Some friends of hers bought a bunch of Parakeet's to create an Aviary and let Morgan take one.
The kids have fallen in love with her (we think it is a her, you can't really tell for few months, so, Nillie, might become Neil). They all gather when Morgan gets her out of the cage. Morgan still sometimes handles her with a glove on, so, I know when the bird is out, because all the kids are walking around with one glove on, so funny!!
So, I am not the biggest fan of birds, they kinda freak me out :0) I guess it all started in Florida at an Aviary in a zoo. As I walked in with Morgan, who was 3 at the time holding a cup of nectar. I had a MILLION birds (well, maybe not millions) ATTACK me...well try to drink the nectar. All I remember is handed the cup forcefully to Boomer and screaming, as I ran out of the Aviary. While leaving my 3 year old in there screaming because, her Mom just freaked out. So, birds are not my favorite.
That being said, Morgan is having a ball playing off my fears. I was leaning over putting something on the stairs and Morgan came up behind me with the bird behind my head. As I stood up my hair brushed Nillie, which made her flap her wings in my hair and I SCREAMED, chills down my spine and literally goose bumps were raised with my hair standing straight up of fear. Morgan fell over laughing, Boomer yelled at me for screaming (he was on the phone, luckily with his Dad). Not, very nice!!!
I have had to prove a few times to the kids, well peer pressure from the kids to hold the dang thing. I have actually mastered the task of holding her on my finger, but the second she starts up my arms, she is done. I was once again, peer pressured into letting Morgan put her on my shoulder...UGH!! I am cringing thinking of it...BUT, I HAVE PICTURE TO PROVE IT WAS DONE!!!!
I am excited my kids, well Morgan finally has a PET...WELCOME, Nillie (Neil) to the family!!!!

Welcome, Nillie!!!
Nillie is starting to give kisses..I loved Joslyn's expression while she was getting kisses :0) Another fun thing is letting her walk up your fingers (Rylee is doing it in the bottom left picture), you just have to say "UP" and she starts doing it...
I have proof...UGH!!! Never again!!!

haha! Oh my goodness! That is so funny. That is neat it will sit on your finger and stuff. I had parakeets growing up and could not get them to do anything. Fun!
