The city has finally decided after 8+ years of city meetings to get rid of the cottage that was used in "Top Gun"..Charlie's house. It was painted about 6 years ago blue, it was gray in the movie. The city has said they can't destroy the cottage because of it's past, but have to move it to a new location..we will see about that, a hotel has bought the lots....so here is the finally look of the one and only "Top Gun" cottage!! It will be sad to have it out of the neighborhood!!
This is what the cottage looked like before they cut all the tree's down a couple of weeks ago....
Front View...
The porch that Maverick (Tom) and Charlie (Kellie) had drinks...
This is the street that Maverick drove his motorcycle up to get to Charlie's cottage.....
This is what I found on the internet site about the cottage....
Top Gun Cottage (1887)
This sweet Victorian was built for a local developer named Graves. It is the oldest, and last best beachfront cottage in Oceanside. Featured in the movie Top Gun, it has consequently has been known as the Top Gun Cottage. The site is threatened by the huge hotel development proposed by Manchester Resort Hotels and the City of Oceanside. The cottage is on a corner of the property and could easily be integrated into the development and used as an adjunct facility to the hotel. Right now it appears it will be moved off site, out of context, with its use yet to be determined.

That's so sad! I remember when I came down, I took a picture of that house! It's too cute!
I was remembering the same trip and pictures. Too bad to have to let it go.
